Is CBD Safe?
Everywhere we look these days, there are three letters describing the latest and greatest alternative healthcare product – CBD. However, with all the buzz we have noticed one common question permeating consumer conversation. Is CBD safe? Although CBD has been around for centuries, it is just now being researched. We need to determine its health benefits, risks, and whether or not it’s the miracle cure many have cracked it up to be.
Before we get into whether or not CBD is safe, let’s first talk about what exactly it is:
Cannabidiol is one of over 100 compounds derived from the hemp plant. Hemp and marijuana are two different variations of the cannabis species. Marijuana produces high levels of Tetrahydrocannabidinol (THC). THC is the compound used for psychoactive effects. Hemp is often grown for industrial uses and only produces about 0.03% THC. The CBD sold at CBD Botanicals is extracted only from hemp plants and can be used by adults, children and pets without risk of getting ‘high.’
Isolate & Full Spectrum
Once CBD is extracted from the plant, it is manufactured into one of two forms — isolate or full spectrum. Isolate products only contains the CBD compound and do not include any other cannabinoids, terpenes, THC or fatty acids that exist within the whole plant extract. Full spectrum includes all of the aforementioned components and produces what is known as an “entourage effect.” This is where the various compounds work together to produce stronger medicinal results. Many choose to use products containing CBD isolate to avoid consuming any amount of THC. Although there are benefits to the CBD isolate, its medicinal properties can be muted by cutting out the other components that have been known to assist with a full range of healing benefits. Full spectrum CBD has been known to assist people with anxiety, stress, inflammation, muscle soreness, epileptic seizures, cancer, chemotherapy side effects, drug addiction, PTSD and much more.
Common side effects from taking too much CBD include feeling tired, having an upset stomach or diarrhea, and in some cases developing a rash. If you experience any of these symptoms, we recommend reducing your serving size. If you are currently taking any medication and are curious about starting a CBD regimen, please consult your physician before starting.
Where does your CBD come from?
Because there are no industry safety standards in place for CBD, it’s good to do a little consumer research. It’s always a good idea to educate yourself on how your CBD is produced and where it comes from.
A few good questions to consider when looking into CBD products are:
- Are there pesticides used in growing the hemp?
- Do they use toxic chemicals to extract the CBD from the plant?
- Is the product third party lab tested?
Although there are no current standards of practice in our industry, CBD Botanicals’ products meets all of the above criteria. This assures a safe and satisfying customer experience. We provide full spectrum CBD in a variety of products. Our products come from certified organic industrial hemp grown on US soil with no pesticides. Our CBD is extracted using a CO2 process that provides pure and clean products free of harsh and toxic chemicals. We provide third party lab tested results and show them on our product pages.
Our standards remain the same across the board with products for both people and pets, because they deserve the best too!
